Every unit at Apalachee Self Storage is climate controlled. There is no standard outdoor option here and nothing to upgrade to, because the whole facility was built as interior, temperature controlled space at 2001 Apalachee Parkway in east Tallahassee. In a city where the humidity runs from May into October, that is the difference between belongings that keep and belongings that do not.
What does climate controlled storage actually protect?
It protects anything that warps, corrodes, yellows or grows mould in heat and humidity. Wood furniture swells and splits, leather cracks, and upholstery holds damp long enough for mildew to take.
Electronics, photographs, paper records, artwork, vinyl and instruments are worse again, because the damage is usually invisible until you open the box. A steady temperature year round is the whole point of the building.
Where are you and how do I get in?
We are at 2001 Apalachee Parkway, on the south side, a quarter mile east of Blairstone Road and one mile west of Capital Circle SE. That is about two miles east of downtown Tallahassee and the Florida State Capitol, and 2.9 miles from Florida State University. The facility is three buildings, with the office and lobby in the middle building.
Access hours are 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week. Every building entrance door has a keypad, and you enter the individual access code assigned to you at move in. Your unit is then secured with your own disc lock, which we provide free.
The property is covered by 24 hour cameras and exterior LED lighting, and every building has fire sprinklers and detectors throughout.
What sizes are available?
Units run from 5x5 up to 20x30, with lockers below that. A 5x5 holds a dorm room or a closet clear out. A 5x10 takes the contents of a one bedroom apartment. A 10x10 covers most two bedroom homes, and a 10x20 handles a full household move including appliances. The 20x30 is a different product again, sized for commercial inventory, equipment and larger estates.
All rentals are month to month. There is no long term commitment and no security deposit, so you can size up for a busy season and size back down without renegotiating anything.
Who uses climate controlled storage in Tallahassee?
Three groups, mostly. East Tallahassee households across Southwood, Blairstone, Governors Park, Piney Z, Myers Park and Apalachee Ridge, storing between moves or clearing space at home.
Businesses along the Apalachee Parkway and Capital Circle corridor holding inventory, equipment, staging furniture and records that have to stay dry and temperature stable. And Florida State students, 2.9 miles away, storing between semesters rather than hauling everything home.
When is this not the right facility?
If you need to pull a vehicle up to your unit door, this is not the site. Apalachee is interior corridor access, so you park and walk in. We do not offer drive up units, and there is no RV, boat or vehicle parking here. Our sister property Max Vault Storage Tallahassee at 3116 W Tharpe Street is drive up, on the west side of the city.
Access also ends at 10:00 PM.
