4.1 Facility Information
Max Vault Storage Tallahassee is a drive-up self storage facility at 3116 W Tharpe Street on the west side of Tallahassee, Florida. All 213 units are ground-level with roll-up doors, so you park at your unit and unload straight from the vehicle. We serve west Tallahassee and Leon County, and we are one of two Max Vault locations in the city.
How to Find Us
We are on West Tharpe Street just off Ocala Road, less than a mile south of Interstate 10 at the Capital Circle NW interchange. Tallahassee State College on Appleyard Drive is 2.1 miles away. Florida State University and Florida A&M University are both under ten minutes by car. If you are coming from downtown, take Tennessee Street west to Ocala Road and turn north.
Storage Solutions
We offer five unit sizes, all drive-up with roll-up doors. A 5x5 suits boxes, seasonal items or a dorm room. A 5x10 fits a studio apartment, a motorcycle or garage overflow. A 10x10 holds one to two bedrooms. A 10x20 takes a full house, business inventory or a car. A 10x30 handles a large house, contractor stock, or a vehicle plus belongings. All rentals are month-to-month with no long-term contract and no security deposit, and there is a one-time $35 administrative fee. Current rates for every size are shown live on this page.
This location does not have climate-controlled units. If you need climate control in Tallahassee, our sister property Apalachee Self Storage on Apalachee Parkway has interior climate-controlled units.
Vehicle Storage
Our 10x20 and 10x30 units take cars, trailers and boats on trailers, stored inside a private unit rather than on an open lot. Because the unit is yours alone, you can store the vehicle and your belongings together. We are not able to accommodate motorhomes or RVs, and we do not rent uncovered outdoor parking spaces.
Security and Access
Access is 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week, through a gated entry with an individual access code issued to you at move-in. 24-hour access is available on approval. The property is fully fenced, monitored by 24-hour security cameras and lit throughout by exterior LED lighting. Every new rental includes a free disc lock, and you keep the only key.
This is a remotely managed site with no staffed office. Our support team answers the phone from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM every day, and our site coordinator is available by appointment if you need to meet someone on site.
Student Storage near FSU, FAMU and Tallahassee State College
Summer storage between semesters is what our 5x5 and 5x10 units are built for. Both are drive-up, so a carload of dorm furniture goes straight from the car into the unit with no lifts, no corridors and no stairs. Rent online, get your access code on move-in day, and let yourself in. Month-to-month means you pay for the summer and nothing more.
Business Storage in Tallahassee
Contractors, trades and small businesses use the 10x20 and 10x30 for inventory, equipment and seasonal stock. Drive-up access means loading a van takes minutes, and 6:00 AM access suits an early start. Online bill pay and month-to-month terms keep the admin light. This is business-suitable storage space rather than warehouse or office suites.
Serving West Tallahassee
We serve Griffin Heights, Midtown, Downtown and Lake Jackson, along with the wider Tharpe Street and Ocala Road corridors and the FSU and FAMU communities.

There are a number of items you cannot store at Max Vault Storage Tallahassee.
You cannot store combustible materials because of the threat of them catching fire. These items include fireworks, fuel tanks, fertilizer, paint thinner, and so on. If it seems like it'll easily catch fire, avoid storing it. You also cannot store firearms.
You cannot store living animals or plants. Do not treat a storage space as a replacement for a proper pet sitter. Not only are storage spaces not built for people or animals to live in them, but the food you leave out for your pets could also attract pests. Similarly, plant soil could attract pests as well.
You cannot store food of any type including, but not limited to, canned foods, perishable foods, dry foods, or pet food for similar reasons. Food will attract pests and will cause an infestation in your storage space and spread to others.
Lastly, you cannot store illegal items such as prohibited weapons, illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia, and stolen items. If it's not legal to house it elsewhere, you cannot store it here.
Yes, every unit needs a lock, and you do not need to buy one. We provide a free lock with every new rental at Max Vault Storage Tallahassee, and it is yours to keep.
If you would rather use your own, a disc lock or a closed shackle padlock is the better choice. Both are far harder to cut than a standard padlock. You hold the key either way.
No. You do not need a reservation to rent at Max Vault Storage Tallahassee. You can complete the whole rental online, or call us and we will do it over the phone, whenever you are ready.
What is worth doing is renting ahead of your move. Pick your move-in date, sign the lease and finish the paperwork online now, and your unit is held and waiting for you on the day. Nothing left to sort out later.
Your access information is sent to you on your move-in day, so there is nothing to collect and no office visit to plan around. You arrive, let yourself in, and unload.
Moving day is busy enough. This is the one part you can get out of the way early.
The term indoor storage describes storage spaces that are found inside a building. These storage spaces provide protection against the elements as they're fully covered.
Drive-up storage spaces are located outside so you can literally drive right up to them. These spaces allow you to easily unload and load your vehicle, making it a breeze to put stuff in, or take stuff out of your storage space. These are convenient spaces if you know you're going to store belongings that would be difficult to carry in and out of a building, especially when those buildings have multiple floors.
Climate-controlled spaces maintain the ambient temperature within them between 50 and 80 degrees and the humidity between 30% and 50%. These temperature and humidity levels are ideal for keeping your things in great condition. Climate-controlled spaces are typically found indoors but some locations do offer drive-up climate-controlled spaces as well.
Your stored belongings need to be covered, and you can do that either way.
A protection plan is required unless you provide valid proof of homeowners or renters insurance that covers stored property. Bring that proof when you move in and no plan is needed.
We offer three plans. Our most popular is $16.00 per month for $3,000 of coverage. There is also a $14.00 plan covering $2,000 and an $18.00 plan covering $5,000, so you can match the cover to what you are actually storing.
